Auditions for the 2017 Montgomery Playhouse One Act Festival

Auditions for the 17th Annual Montgomery Playhouse One Act Festival will be held on Monday and Tuesday, June 5 & 6, at Commotion Fitness Studio at 13220 Wisteria Drive, Suite N13, Germantown, MD. The auditions will begin at 7:30 each evening and will be comprised of cold readings from the various original scripts.

The plays will be performed weekends July 21 – 30.

Directions to Commotion Fitness Studio

  1. Take 270 north to Father Hurley Blvd exit.
  2. Turn left onto Father Hurley Blvd.
  3. The sixth light is Wisteria Dr. Turn left at the light.
  4. Turn right into the first driveway and continue bearing right. Commotion is the second storefront from the Father Hurley end of the row. The address is 13220 Wisteria (Suite N13), Germantown, MD.

Sue Bevine – One Click Away by Dean Fiala [3 men & 2 women]
Running time: about 25 minutes.
Fed up with the dating process, Jenna seeks a more permanent solution with the help of the internet.

Farid Bozorgmehr – Searching for Hope by Farid Bozorgmehr [2 men, 3 women, ages mid-30s to mid-60s]
Running time: about 25 minutes.
A Persian woman named Niloo travels to America looking for Babak. She needs to convince Babak to go back to Iran to save someone whose life can be saved only by him.

David Fialkoff – Confusion in the Midsection by David Epstein [2 men & 1 woman]
Running time: about 12 minutes
Chasid is seated next to Caitlyn on a plane. He asks her to move elsewhere because his strong religious beliefs don’t allow him to sit next to a woman.

Running time: about 45 minutes.
Robert Friedlander-Prechtl a retired economist and writer and whose work was incorporated into the Nazi economic recovery program is visited by a German official from Himmler’s office. Prechtl is an embarrassment to the Nazis because his mother was Jewish.

Pauline Griller-Mitchel – Swimwear by Stephen LaRocque [1 man & 1 woman]
Running time: about 40 minutes.
A young woman on a winter beach photo shoot finds herself abandoned on a beach by her photographer. She is dressed only in swimwear. A fisherman passes by and she asks for help. It turns out that the man is a priest.

Jen Katz – The Knee to My Heart by Chip Bolcik [2 people]
Running time: about 40 minutes.
Two aliens have come to earth looking for just the right soil to save their planet. The leader is fearful of meeting Earthlings but the mission partner has fallen in love with the planet.

Kryss Lacovaro – Two Drink Minimum by Emilio Iasiello [1 man, 1 woman, and another player of either sex]
Running time: about 20 minutes.
In a low-brow hotel bar on New Year’s Eve, a young woman has been waiting for her date for a long time. The bartender recognizes that she has been abandoned and begins to prey on her weakness. An Elvis impersonator shows up and the battle for Nancy begins.
